Sachin Tendulkar-autographed bats will help expand Samaritan Mission School for underprivileged kids in Kolkata's Tikiapara area
Sachin Tendulkar will now have a floor named after him in a Kolkata school.Yesterday, the batting maestro obliged cricket writer Mudar Patherya by signing five full size bats which will fetch a minimum of Rs three lakh each via an online auction, proceeds of which will go to the Samaritan Mission School for the underprivileged near Howrah in Kolkata.


Kolkata-based Patherya, who covered Tendulkar's first tour ” to Pakistan in 1989-90 ” is helping the school in their quest to expand. "Students in our school can study only till only Std V. The funds that we raise from the auction of the bats will help us build another floor, which will help us accommodate Std VI students. We are very grateful to Sachin for this gesture. The floor will be called the Sachin Tendulkar Block," said Mamoon Akhtar, founder of the institution.
