Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar ranked the World Cup win as the best moment of his career and said that the Indian team should start the preparatory process to defend the World Cup in 2015.
Tendulkar, who announced his retirement from the One-Day Internationals on Sunday, said winning the World Cup was his dream and that he felt blessed to have fulfilled it in 2011. "I have decided to retire from the One-Day format of the game. I feel blessed to have fulfilled the dream of being part of a World Cup wining Indian team," he said.
Tendulkar, who represented India in six World Cups, advised the Indian cricket team to start the process to defend the title. "The preparatory process to defend the World Cup in 2015 should begin early and in right earnest," he said.
"I would like to wish the team all the very best for the future. I am eternally grateful to all my well-wishers for their unconditional support and love over the years," he added.
