Sachin Tendulkar available for Ranji quarters: MCA
Here’s some good news for Team Mumbai.Sachin Tendulkar, who recently retired from ODI cricket, has made himself available for the Ranji Trophy quarterfinal tie against Baroda starting on Sunday.
The 39-time Ranji champions, in their quest for a 40th, will take on Baroda at the Wankhede Stadium in the five-day knockout tie.
“Tendulkar will be available for the quarterfinal against Baroda,” the Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Nitin Dalal told DNA on Tuesday. The team for the same match will be picked on Thursday by the selection committee led by Sandip Patil.
Tendulkar was asked by the MCA whether he would be available for the last Ranji Trophy league match against Gujarat in Navi Mumbai, however, the batting maestro said that he would be only available for the knockouts since he was holidaying in Mussoorie.
Meanwhile, there are doubts over Zaheer Khan’s fitness as well. “I will have a talk with the physio on Zaheer’s fitness and only after reviewing it we will take a call,” he added. There have been reports that the left-arm pacer, who led Mumbai against Gujarat, has been ruled out for two weeks due to calf strain.
Meanwhile, Ajit Agarkar, who opted out of the last league encounter due to a groin strain, is fit.
