GOD BIGGER ROLEMODEL THAN DON ( UNKNOWN DON FACTS)
GOD BIGGER ROLEMODEL THAN DON ( UNKNOWN DON FACTS)
Sachin Tendulkar may be the most textbook player , Lara the most flamboyant, Greame Pollock the most elegant , Viv Richards the most fearless , Sunil Gavaskar the greatest technician , Barry Richards the man who had more time to play the ball then anybody else , George Headly might have played most of his 20 odd games at bowler friendly wickets but it is Sir Don Bradman who is easily the best batsman of all and there “may” be daylight between him and the next best Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar ( according to legendary Richie Benaud ) but when it comes to being the role model for generation next, believe me there is “surely” daylight , sun light , moon light all the lights in the world as Sachin scores heavily over Sir Don.
Have a look at some of these completely unknown sir don incidents .
Incident-1.
After a brilliant 334 at Headingly in 1930 , Australian born soap maker Arthur Whitelaw gave Bradman 1000 Australian dollars which were enough to buy two more than substantial houses in Sydney . Bradman always went to the bar alone and he never offered any of his team mates to buy anyone a drink from his new pocketed wealth , he pocketed a lot .his team mates were hell of annoyed with this .
Incident-2
How bad was Sir don’s Behavior with his team mates u can easily understand from this conversation between Sir Don and his former team mate Vic Richardson in early 1960s .
Bradman said to Vic , “ nice to see your old mate Arthur Gilligan get the job as M.C.C president “.
‘Good things, they don’t work here in Australian System ,’Vic replied.
“why’s that Vic ?
In England the president is picked by his friends , if they had that system in Australia , you ‘d never have got a vote , you little cunt .
Incident -3
Sir Don Bradman always ran after money , though at this time bradman was earning 5 times more than any other cricketer in Australia with his bat deal with mick Simmons . sir don did accepted a 3 year contract with “associated newspaper” for writing in their news paper and wrote a letter to the board ‘ as a mere formality’ asking for permission to write in newspaper.
The board took a dim view of players writing for the press while still a member of the test team , their resistence stemming from earlie in the century when some players publicly criticized their peers. The permission he requested was denied upon ehich bradman said “ HE WOULD HONOUR THE CONTRACT WITH ASSOCIATED NEWSPAPER , EVEN IF IT MEANT RETIREMENT FROM INTERNATIONAL CRICKET “.
The A.C.B was stunned by bradman’s response and asked Robert clyde pakker ( karr paker’s grandfather ) who owned that newspaper to settle this matter . he had a meeting with bradman and he told bradman that he must play for the country, to which bradman replied steadfastly “ YOU CAN FORCE ME TO WRITE . BUT THERE IS NOTHING IN THE CONTRACT WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO FORCE ME TO PLAY CRICKET”.
Bradman missed one test match due to it and the matter was solved on this comdition that bradman can speak to radio 2UE everyday on the match after a day’s play. Incident – 4 Long after Sir Don’s playing days were over , Adeliade groundsman lance approached Bradman who was then S.A.C.A ( South Australian Cricket Association ) president, asking him for a rise in the salary .
Why do u need more money Arthur , asked Bradman
Me and my wife are getting a bit old and we are feeling summer heat more these days .we need an airconditioner and the only way we can see is a rise in price rise .
No , son . we can’t do that . Bradman said.
The above statement was so typical of bradman .whenever any player asked him for the improvement in match fees or facilities Bradman’s reply was invariably this ‘ NO SON , “ WE CAN’T DO THAT”.
This gives u an insight into Bradman’s thinking ; as a player he had expressed a lot of concerns about payments to players and financial plight of a test cricketer , but when he held board’s purse his attitude changed completely, he had a lot to do with the starting of world series ( as players were treated badly during his time as boerd president )
Fact-5
This one line will tell u everything about Bradman . Australia’s greatest all rounder ever and one of the rare gentlemans of the game Keith Miller who played for almost a decade with Bradman was when asked his views about sir don he always said.” HE WAS A GREAT PLAYER , EASILY THE GREATEST EVER , BUT HE WAS JUST THAT”. Now look at Sachin Tendulkar though he has earned a lot of money but he has not ran madly after it and does not pockets everything unlike sir don . Most of us know that tendulkar bears general expenses of 200 children. I would like to tell u another incident of sachin tendulkar which I have read somewhere .
When sachin was contracted for 25 crores for world tel in 1995-96 tendulkar was asked how much money does he w ants in white and how much in black . sachin’s repley stunned everybody there , he said all in white because tax stealing is a cheat and my father has told me to stay away from such things .
Warne praise sachin him a lot and it is not only warme great nature but it is also due to the fact that warne knows that sachin will never make his fun or anything like that ,
Carl hooper once said ( when sachin was in his pomp ) mre than his batting . I m impressed with sachin’s great nature.
Take the freedom fighters of the country away and in my view sachin is easily as great a role model for generation next as any if not better then all . CONTINUE LOVING HIM
