Sachin meets Bollywood in Durban

International cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar will be honoured for his contribution to the advancement of cricket at a commemorative match between India and South Africa in Durban on January 9.

The historic Pro20 match, to be played at Moses Mabhida Stadium, will also see another cricketing great, Makhaya Ntini, playing in his final international.
The match, coupled with a musical spectacular featuring Bollywood heavyweights Shahrukh Khan and Anil Kapoor, is expected to attract a crowd of 50000.
Joining Khan and Kapoor in the two-hour friendship celebration concert will be Shahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Malaika Arora.
The event will also mark the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Indians in South Africa.
Preceding the concert is the match with the inaugural Krish Mackerdhuj Trophy at stake.
Cricket South Africa CEO Gerald Majola said cricket and Bollywood went hand-in-hand.
"This historic event will not be complete without a star-studded concert. We saw an opportunity in cricket to be part of the 150-year celebrations.
"In 1948, India was the first country to boycott apartheid South Africa which led to its sports isolation. India was also the first country to play against them in Calcutta (on November 10 1991). We always had a close relationship with India," he said,
Majola described Tendulkar as "an icon of the game".
"He holds the record for the most Test runs and centuries and most one-day runs and centuries. He has been playing for 21 years. Sachin is the only member of the Indian team that played the first match against SA after our unity."
Majola said Ntini and Tendulkar represented "all that is best in this great game of cricket".
Sam Panchamukhi of Wizcraft Entertainment - the concert organiser - said it promised to be "no ordinary concert".
"It will take people through various emotional moments. The musical journey will be an unforgettable experience," he said.
