Win was an overwhelming experience: Sachin

Mumbai: Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar on Monday said that winning the World Cup was the biggest moment of his life and that it was the team’s self belief that had helped them lift the coveted trophy after a gap of 28 years.

Talking to reporters a couple of days after India’s historic triumph against Sri Lanka in the 2011 cricket World Cup final, an emotionally charged Tendulkar said that the Indian team had displayed tremendous maturity even in times of crisis.

“We were charged up and focused just when the big moment arrived. The team did not feel too much pressure and kept calm at crucial junctures. We were just thinking about giving it our best,” he said.

Recalling another unforgettable moment of his cricketing journey, Tendulkar said:

“During the 1987 World Cup when I was a ball boy, (Sunil) Gavaskar took me to the players’ dressing room. It was a big moment in my life but Wankede was an even bigger occasion.”
