Tendulkar sacrifices century, Match Drawn

Indian superstar Sachin Tendulkar sacrificed a century to give his team-mates vital batting practice ahead of the Boxing Day Test.

Test cricket’s leading runscorer retired at tea on 92 as India finished the match at 6-320 in reply to the Chairman’s XI total of 6-398. Stumps were called at Manuka Oval 45 minutes early due to rain. VVs Laxman also retired unbeaten on 57, while Rohit Sharma finished the day 56 not out alongside wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha on 23.

Virat Kohli was the only wicket to fall in the final session, caught and bowled by Cameron Boyce for 1.Captain Rahul Dravid looked in complete control until he holed out to mid on for 45 to give Queensland leg-spinner Cameron Boyce his first wicket.

The Chairman’s XI made early inroads when Indian opener Ajinkya Rahane was caught by Cameron Boyce in the gully off Jake Haberfield for 3. Gautam Gambhir was the next to go, spooning a catch to Ryan Broad at cover off Maxwell for 35.
