Learn from Tendulkar, says Sourav Ganguly

Former captain Sourav Ganguly wants the India batsmen to learn from teammate Sachin Tendulkar.

“They’ve got to look at the front foot-play of Sachin... Look at the way he’s generally leaving the ball... Others are hitting far too many on the up and getting a nick,” Sourav told The Telegraph.

Speaking at the Sheraton On The Park, on Tuesday, he added: “The problem is both of technique and application... They’re inter-linked.”

Sachin-Tendulkar-Sourav-Ganguly-IPLAcknowledging that the opening combination (Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir) was causing “concern,” Sourav said: “But, at this stage, you have to persist with them.”

He made the point that a “minimum lead” should be conceded, if at all, otherwise India would head towards a 0-2 scoreline with two Tests remaining.

Sourav was all praise for quick James Pattinson: “Aggressive, sharp and bowls a good line and length...”
