While according to sources, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Deccan Chargers are yet to decide on whether to retain players or to shortlist them for the auction.
According to the new IPL retention rule, an existing team can retain up to four players with a maximum of three Indians. The first player will cost the team $1.8 million, which will be deducted from its total purse of $9 million irrespective of the salary of that player. The next three players will cost $1.3m, $0.9m, $0.5m if a team goes for it. Indian players and others who have played 75% of matches during IPL 3 will go into the auction pool.
BCCI has come up salary brackets of Rs 10, 20 and 30 lakh per year for Indian domestic cricketers. Those cricketers who have been playing Ranji Trophy since 2005-06 season will be given Rs 30 lakh while those who are playing from 2006-07 season onwards will be given Rs 20 lakh while those who are playing since 2009-10 season will be given Rs 10-lakh.
