The Bollywood glitterati, business tycoons, politicians and members of the Indian cricket team were in attendance at a dinner party thrown by Sachin Tendulkar in a hotel in Andheri East on Monday. The 40-year-old Tendulkar retired from cricket on Saturday. Among the prominent Bollywood stars were Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Rahul Bose and director Karan Johar. Tendulkar's guru and coach Ramakant Achrekar was among the select gathering.

Dressed in a black suit, Tendulkar accompanied by his wife Anjali, also in black, personally welcomed the guests as security was watertight. Among the political heavyweights, Union Minister Sharad Pawar, Raj Thackeray and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan attended the party. Tendulkar's mentor Sunil Gavaskar and the chairman of the selection committee Sandeep Patil and former opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth were among the early guests who arrived. Nita Ambani, the owner of Mumbai Indians and Subrata Roy of Sahara were also part of the gathering. Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar and Tendulkar's former teammates Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Virender Sehwag were also present.(NDTV)
